Great Britain

GB means Great Britain: England, Scotland and Wales. It does not mean the whole United Kingdom. Do not assume GB data includes Northern Ireland.

The geographic area named by a dataset matters. A country’s borders, an electricity-system boundary and an electricity-market area are not interchangeable.

Source attribution

Check the source named alongside the particular chart, reading or map. Different views may use different datasets, definitions and reporting periods. One provider’s presence on the site does not mean all of its datasets are available.

For a useful comparison, check the area, unit, interval, observation time and whether the values are actual, estimated or forecast. Also check whether the source has revised an earlier publication.

Reuse and technical access

Source attribution is not a blanket permission to republish data. Follow the applicable source terms and the site’s terms of use.

These guides do not announce a supported public API, bulk download or commercial data licence. Browser requests used by the website should not be treated as a versioned developer API contract.
